Mr Raymond Kwok, Chairman & Managing Director of Sun Hun= g Kai Properties Limited, referred to the impact of the challenging COVID p= andemic over the last nearly three years and said, =E2=80=9CThere are alway= s new challenges, and with that the need for new solutions. Originally, mos= t of our clients were business owners, banking executives and high net-wort= h individuals. Now our clients have become more broad-based and group chart= ers have begun to figure more prominently.

=E2=80=9CWe want to r= e-think how best to meet their differing requirements. The Threerunway Syst= em is coming on line and the Greater Bay Area beckons. Hong Kong=E2=80=99s = traditional gateway role will resume as soon as the door swings open. Like = New York and London, Hong Kong plays a key role in servicing the needs of i= nternational capital. HKBAC=E2=80=99s role is to serve the needs of those a= t centre of these investment decisions for whom time is money, speed essent= ial and freedom of movement vital.=E2=80=9D

The Hon Sir Michael = D. Kadoorie, long time aviation advocate, said, =E2=80=9CWe=E2=80=99ve alwa= ys embraced a long-term view for aviation and Hong Kong. We believe in conn= ectivity and Hong Kong=E2=80=99s unique competitive edge as a world city kn= own for the highest standards and best services, in addition to the plentif= ul development opportunities just across the boundary into the Greater Bay = Area. Business aviation, with the option of cross-boundary helicopter comme= rcial services, presents a seamless way to go from and to Hong Kong within = the GBA and will help drive and raise integration momentum to benefit Hong = Kong and the GBA. Despite the impact of the pandemic, I strongly believe, a= s my late father said likening it to a bouncing ball - the further it drops= , the higher it will come back in future.=E2=80=9D

In response t= o rising demand and the changing demand landscape, HKBAC=E2=80=99s expansio= n plan will proceeded in two parts: the first includes the refurbishment an= d expansion of the existing Executive Terminal Building (ETB) with an upgra= de on the co-located customs, immigration and quarantine (CIQ), plus a new = all-weather canopy stretching from the ETB to shield and serve both aircraf= t and passengers. The second part features a new Support Terminal with enla= rged facilities to cope with emerging demands from chartered flights and gr= oup travel flights, plus additional offices for fellow business aviation st= akeholders, both to be launched in 2025.

Mr. Robert Chan, Execut= ive Director of Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited and Project Director of the= expansion project said, =E2=80=9Cit is one of the most exciting projects t= hat needs to cater to customer=E2=80=99s demands emphasising higher efficie= ncy, greater flexibility, and better privacy.

Together with the = existing HKBAC facilities, the in-situ expansion shall deliver an area 5 ti= mes that of the existing ones and the number of car-parking bays double the= existing provision.

The new HKBAC will include designated and e= xclusive drop off and fast track check-in for ultimate privacy access when = required by the customer. The new Terminal Building will include VIP Lounge= and Suites for individuals, families and groups, providing world class ser= vices. The thoughtfully designed CIQ shall allow fast-track departure and a= rrival. Pilot and Crew lounges are also enhanced to provide well-equipped s= paces for them to work on their flight plan or simply to rest.

T= he new HKBAC will also be a good place for aviation-related business events= and shows. As an iconic feature of the new Terminal Building, =E2=80=9CThe= Canopy=E2=80=9D is first-of-it-kind in Asia and commands a span of over 26= meters. It is designed to cover a private jet and to serve and protect its= customers from different weather conditions. Various green and smart featu= res including solar panels, EV chargers, and smart building management syst= ems are also provided in the new HKBAC with various green labels.=E2=80=9D<= br/>
The expansion is expected to not only enhance customer service c= apacity and experience, but also provide the opportunity for digitalisation= and continuous innovation to ground HKBAC=E2=80=99s reputation as Asia=E2= =80=99s Best FBO known for safety, service and style.

HKBAC has = been offering round-the-clock professional aircraft and ground support serv= ices for general aviation aircraft, including business jets, diplomatic and= emergency flights. The majority flights handled by the HKBAC are business = flights. An economic study in recent years found that at least 65 of the to= p 100 Hong Kong listed companies utilized business aviation.

Sustainable Aviation Fuel available= at Inverness Airport
=C2=A0
Highlands and Islands Airports Limi= ted (HIAL) is delighted to offer sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at Inverne= ss Airport. The cleaner fuel product is supplied by World Fuel Services as = a 35% blend and is available to all flight operators at the airport.
<= br/> SAF is a synthetic form of jet fuel derived from sustainable sources, = which is made up from recycled materials including used fats and oils. SAF = is then blended with conventional Jet A1 aviation fuel and can be used in a= ny aircraft or engine certified to operate with regular Jet A1 fuel.
<= br/> HIAL=E2=80=99s ambition is to become a net zero regional airport group= and is committed to a continuous supply of SAF at Inverness Airport, where= there is an ongoing demand beyond previous supplies for one-off events or = trials.

Although the technology to develop low and zero emission= aircraft is progressing at pace, in the short-term, flying will remain Jet= A1 fuel based. SAF can act as a bridge between current operations and thes= e new technologies. Offering life cycle carbon reductions of around 70%, SA= F plays a key role in the aviation sectors journey towards net zero.
<= br/> HIAL has already made several steps towards understanding and reducing= its carbon emissions and undertakes annual carbon footprint calculations. = Initiatives already introduced across the group include solar powered passe= nger boarding ramps; 100% electric or hybrid Ground Power Units (GPUs).

New optimised de-icing equipment as well as a replacement programme= of traditional petrol cars with electric vehicles. We have replaced a numb= er of large fire fighting appliances with smaller equivalents that provide = 30% fuel savings and diesel consumption.

HIAL=E2=80=99s Managing= director Inglis Lyon, said: =E2=80=9CAt HIAL we are committed to reducing = our environmental impact. As an operator of 11 airports, it is important to= work with aviation partners to decarbonise flights within Scotland and SAF= will play a vital role to help meeting the Scottish Government's targe= t to create the world's first net-zero aviation region by 2040.
=E2=80=9CThe offering at Inverness Airport takes us one step closer to = meeting our sustainability goals. Making SAF available at Inverness will ho= pefully be a catalyst for its wider introduction across the Highlands and I= slands providing those flying in and out of our airports a real the choice = to support decarbonisation and sustainability goals.

Duncan Stor= ey, Vice President, Supply Aviation Europe at World Fuel Services, said: = =E2=80=9CWorld Fuel Services is committed to the industry=E2=80=99s goal of= reducing carbon emissions. Since 2015, we have delivered more than 39 mill= ion gallons of sustainable aviation fuel to business and commercial aviatio= n customers worldwide. Making sustainable aviation fuel available at Invern= ess furthers the adoption of cleaner fuels. World Fuel will continue invest= ing in innovative solutions and expanding renewable and lower-emission fuel= s and energy offerings to help advance the industry on its path to net zero= .=E2=80=9D

Kevin Stewart, Minister for Transport said: =E2=80=9C= While it=E2=80=99s important to have longer term targets to achieve net zer= o, it=E2=80=99s equally important to reduce emissions today where we can. T= he introduction of a continuous supply of sustainable aviation fuel at Inve= rness Airport will enable aircraft flying now to lower their emissions as w= e work to achieve full net zero.=E2=80=9D
