The new reporting module leverages real-time data generated by SD’s FlightDeck Freedom® (FDF) datalink service, which accurately captures fuel burn. The system then calculates each flight’s carbon emissions based on the amount of fuel burned, fuel type and blend. This presents operators with validated emissions data for individual aircraft, an entire fleet over a specified period, or for a selected flight. The emissions data is run through a refined calculation developed to comply with all regulatory standards to determine the amount of carbon emitted. The reports display a variety of metrics, including how much CO2 has been generated, in which airspace it was produced, and how this compares to previous or other similar trips. This streamlines the computations relating to mandatory and voluntary emission reporting and offsetting, making it easier for operators to present precise reports. “With the industry pledging to be carbon neutral by 2050, we recognize that aircraft operators need to monitor each flight’s environmental impact. We’ve developed this new tool to help them streamline the calculations, provide seamless access to offset options and give them control over their own reporting and carbon strategy,” says Jim Jensen, Founder and CEO of Satcom Direct. “SD customers no longer need to rely solely on third-party providers to analyze the figures and generate the reports. It saves time and ensures that all of an operator’s flight departments, no matter where they are in the world, use the same standard to ensure consistent calculations. The carbon reporting tool is especially beneficial to those responsible for environmental social governance, ESG, initiatives and ever-evolving CORSIA compliance. We know the industry will welcome the simplicity and convenience.” Information is presented graphically and can be used to generate carbon certificates, transactional records for purchased credits, and authenticated tracking information. Operators benefit from seamless access to qualified carbon credits via approved registries, and carbon credits can be transacted via the carbon offsetting platform Patch, which is integrated with SD Pro. A choice of over 140 accessible offset projects is available, of which SD will highlight preferred options; however, customers can purchase other project credits if desired. Initial availability is anticipated by August 2023. The first phase will enable operators to view CO2 emissions, purchase offset credits, and access associated certificates and records. Satcom Direct will showcase the new module and its ease of use during this year’s EBACE at booth T106. Satcom Direct (SD) is founded on a core belief in understanding the value of time and the importance of maximizing it. The company mobilizes the most cutting-edge technologies to enable connection wherever you might be. SD’s proprietary technologies span business aviation and government sectors, with the singular goal of leading connectivity industry standards. Web Manuals gets personal with Reader App upgrades Web Manuals, the world leader in aviation document digitization solutions, is introducing enhanced personalization options in its latest Reader App upgrade. The update comes with connectivity recognition – a built-in connectivity choice – allowing the user to define when the app is perceived as ‘online’. Users can choose whether to run downloads on Wi-Fi and Cellular data or only when Wi-Fi is connected. Additional functionality improvements will allow users to personalize their app experience with screen customization and thumb navigation, enabling faster transition between documents that are unique to the user. Updated tab functions will enable smoother transition between current working documents, as well as the ability to move back and forth between manual amendments. Duncan Aviation delivers fully refurbished Citation 750 When this Citation 750 arrived at Duncan Aviation’s full-service facility in Battle Creek, Michigan, the interior was simple, beige, and lacked any pattern or design. The headrests were uncomfortable and didn’t function well, the seat design was plain and standard, and the interior was worn. The experts at Duncan Aviation completely overhauled the aircraft’s interior and exterior, turning it into a masterpiece that will withstand the test of time. The owner of the aircraft envisioned a classic updated scheme that included subtle patterns in a cool grey, almost navy colour scheme. Highlights of the interior included quilted double-stitched diamond pattern inserts in the seats and dark, rich navy sidewalls. “He wanted the seats to be the stars,” said Duncan Aviation Lead Designer Heather Pridemore. “The contouring shape of the seats, accentuated with blue accent stitch lines, make the seats feel taller and definitely help them stand out.” The stitching was done using Duncan Aviation’s new state-of-the-art CNC machine that allows the upholstery team to create perforation, multi-colour sewing, and multi-colour embroidery on aircraft seats and panels. “This machine allows us to control the quality and turntimes, and lets our imaginations run wild with possible designs,” says Duncan Aviation’s Upholstery Team Leader Travis Smith. “The designs are pretty close to endless with what we can do on quilted panels.” The owner liked the dark, cool grey theme in his interior, but wanted to bring in a splash of color. The result was dark, rich blue lower sidewalls that give a classic, yet unique look to the interior. They tie in perfectly with the blue stitching on the seats. The carpet is another highlight of the interior. The owner told Pridemore he wanted a darker carpet, so she picked a pattern that had light accents in it to help balance the darkness of the lower sidewalls and the lightness of the seats. “Everything tied in so well together,” said Pridemore. “Being a small aircraft, it was a priority to make everything look and feel cohesive and flow seamlessly.” Pridemore incorporated black composite ebony veneer, and updated all the plating to a satin chrome finish. The result is a straightforward, classic, clean, and updated interior. The owner came to Duncan Aviation with an idea of what he wanted for the exterior, and Pridemore made tweaks until it was perfected. The result was a scheme that brings the outside of the aircraft to the inside, highlighted by navy blues, silver, and gold accents. The finished product was a modern classic, sleek look that Pridemore said fit perfectly on the Citation without looking overwhelming. “The long, lean lines running aft to forward made the Citation look bigger than it actually is,” explained Pridemore. “The lines pull the aircraft, making it feel longer and more spacious.” While the aircraft was down, Duncan Aviation technicians also performed a few minor maintenance due items and installed the Collins Pro Line Fusion integrated avionics system and the Collins Venue cabin management system. Jet Luxe Receives Argus Rated Charter Broker Certificate Jet Luxe has announced that it has received its ARGUS Charter Certificate – an internally recognized standard of operational and safety excellence. This milestone offers Jet Luxe’s buyers, investors, and passengers around the world confidence in their decision to partner and fly with Jet Luxe. The certification indicates that Jet Luxe, as a charter broker, meets or exceeds the standards independently set by ARGUS. The quality analysis is the business aviation industry’s most respected, unbiased, and detailed third-party charter broker analysis. The program is the only rating system in the business jet charter sector that uses a proprietary algorithm to score each operator based on their fact-based historical incident and accident information. Madrid said, “We understand that our clients are discerning and savvy – they make use of data and various quantitative and qualitative metrics to make informed choices. Our ARGUS certification provides assurance of our legitimacy as a charter broker and ensures unbiased, independent due diligence is in place. Paired with our Forbes Service Standards of Excellence, our clients can benchmark our service and move forward with confidence in the knowledge that we are safe, reliable, and independently quality verified.” Certification is granted by ARGUS only after in-depth historical and background evaluation. First-time Flight for Poodle Reunites Dog-Siblings After Eight Years With more pet owners turning to private jet travel to ensure their pets' safety and comfort, Air Partner, a global aviation services group, recently facilitated an extraordinary pet travel flight request to reunite a 45-pound Poodle named Candy with her estranged sibling after eight years apart. The flight, which covered over 1,000 miles and lasted almost three hours, allowed Candy and her owner to fly side-by-side in the comfort of a private cabin, avoiding the restrictions and stress of commercial airlines. Bringing larger-sized breeds on board airlines can be challenging due to restrictions, and cargo-hold is a less-than-favourable choice for transporting pets due to wellbeing concerns, including the stress and anxiety caused by being separated, varying temperatures and strange, loud environments. Air Partner’s Private Jets team ensured all the necessary considerations were made for Candy's first flight. The team recommended having already-familiar items onboard the Beechcraft Hawker 400XP to help keep the Poodle at ease. The Hawker 400XP, ideal for short to mid-range flights with seating for eight, made an economical choice for the South to North-East route. The light jet offers the comfort of a spacious cabin and features a pocket door that reduces noise levels. All paws on board, Candy could relax soundly on her favourite Lady & the Tramp throw with fresh water and food nearby. As the world gears up for the first restriction-free summer since 2019, Air Partner anticipates a surge in pet owners seeking safer, more comfortable travel options for their furry companions. With Air Partner's Private Jets team offering direct access to a broad range of private jet aircraft for charter, and its global support team available 24/7 to handle any requests, its team will continue to ensure a stress-free journey for all.
